HURRICANE SANDY MAKES LANDFALL AT NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA

Hurricane Sandy makes landfall at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Hurricane Condition of Readiness 3 (COR III) was set base-wide in preparation for storm winds greater than 50 knots. Among a myriad of precautionary measures taken at the installation, all beaches were closed and all boating, diving and recreational swimming was suspended. All schools, roads and facilities were closed. Base residents were reminded on the importance of being prepared with a essential supplies and were advised to remain within their residence until the "all clear" was passed.
